[[Delphi Pronunciation]]             DELPHI
Delph-ee vs Delph-eye

In different parts of the world Delphi is pronounced differently. This often results in amusing discussion threads in newsgroups that never end in resolution. One camp will always say that the other is wrong and provide all sorts of "facts" to back this up. For interest's sake I thought I'd compile a list of countries where each pronunciation is predominantly used:

== Delf-ee Countries ==

* Britain

* India

* Netherlands

* Germany

* South Africa

* Sweden

* Bosnia and Herzegovina

== Delf-eye Countries ==

* USA

* Brazil

== Delfi Countries ==

* Colombia, maybe rest of Latin-America (except Brazil)

::''Being a South African, I think I need someone to explain this one to me... How is this pronounced? Delf"i" doesn't clearly define the pronunciation to me. "i" in this context sounds like "ee"''

Delf-ee/Delf-eye Countries (i.e. no clear majority)

* ??

I expect this list to evolve over time. Please add your own country if you have knowledge of the pronunciation of Delphi there. If there is conflicting information it may also indicate that there is no predominant pronunciation. I'm sure that some countries exist where both pronunciations are used equally (especially in countries where some form of English is a second language).
